Blackberry Strain Autoflower SeedsA berry-scented indica autoflower with Kush roots

4.79 out of 5 · 19 reviews

The Blackberry strain, grown from these autoflowering seeds, is a compact, indica-heavy plant that smells of sweet forest berries with an earthy, piney edge. Breeder figures for the best-known version, Fast Buds' Blackberry Auto, list up to 23% THC, a 9 to 10 week run from seed and plants of 70 to 110 cm. It blooms by age, not light, which makes it a forgiving pick for small tents.

Quick answer

What is the Blackberry strain?

Blackberry Auto is an indica-dominant autoflower, about 75% indica, built from Blackberry Kush-type genetics and ruderalis; the most documented version comes from Fast Buds. It finishes about 9 to 10 weeks after germination, reaches 70 to 110 cm, and is listed at 20 to 23% THC with little CBD. Growers describe sweet, fruity berry aromas over earthy and pine notes, and a relaxing, body-heavy effect.

Genetics & origin

Where does the Blackberry strain come from?

Blackberry Auto, in its best-known form, was bred by Fast Buds, which combined Blackberry genetics with an autoflowering ruderalis line. SeedFinder and Leafly record the cross as Blackberry Kush × ruderalis, while Fast Buds' own data sheet describes Blackberry crossed with purple Kush strains from Pakistan plus a little Canadian ruderalis. Both descriptions point to the same indica-heavy, berry-scented plant.

Fast Buds says its Blackberry Auto took first place at an Oregon autoflower cup, which Leafly dates to 2019; we could not find an independent record of that contest. The name causes some confusion, because the photoperiod Blackberry sold by Nirvana Seeds is a different cross of Black Domina and Raspberry Cough, and other breeders use the name for their own indica lines.

Is Blackberry Auto the same as Blackberry Kush?

Blackberry Auto is not the same plant as Blackberry Kush, but it descends from Blackberry Kush-type genetics. Blackberry Kush is a photoperiod indica that needs a 12/12 light schedule to bloom. Adding ruderalis made the auto smaller and quicker, so it runs from seed to harvest in about 9 to 10 weeks under the same light all the way through.

Check the seed type before you compare specs. Photoperiod Blackberry from Nirvana flowers for 9 to 11 weeks after the light change, so its timing and size do not match the autoflower.

Effects, aroma & terpenes

What does Blackberry taste like, and how does it feel?

Aroma and flavor

Blackberry Auto smells and tastes of sweet, ripe forest berries over an earthy Kush base, with a touch of pine and a mild spicy note on the exhale.

  • Forest fruit
  • Sweet
  • Earthy Kush
  • Pine
  • Spice

Terpenes

Myrcene
Musky, ripe-fruit base that suits the berry profile
Pinene
The fresh pine note behind the sweetness

Fast Buds' data lists only myrcene and pinene for Blackberry Auto; no full lab terpene profile is published.

Reported effects

Most people describe Blackberry Auto as relaxing and body-heavy, opening with a happy, euphoric lift before settling into a calm, couch-bound feeling. Weedmaps notes the Fast Buds version is more sedating than older Dutch Blackberry hybrids, and SeedFinder users warn that newer smokers may find it very couch-locking.

  • Relaxed
  • Euphoric
  • Body buzz
  • Sleepy
  • Happy

Commonly reported Blackberry downsides are dry mouth, red eyes and heavy couch-lock that can make it a poor fit for busy days.

Effect notes come from Fast Buds' description, SeedFinder user ratings and Weedmaps reports for Blackberry. Your own reaction may differ, and nothing here is medical advice.

Grow guide

How do you grow Blackberry seeds?

Blackberry Auto seeds are a straightforward grow: start them in the pot they will finish in, run 18 to 20 hours of light every day, train lightly in the first month, and harvest about 9 to 10 weeks after sprouting.

  1. Germinate2–6 days

Sow Blackberry Auto seeds about 1 cm deep in lightly fertilized soil or coco and keep the medium moist, not wet.

  2. Early growthWeeks 2–3

The indica structure stays bushy and short. Tie the main stem down gently to spread the side branches toward the light.

  3. FlowerWeeks 3–9

Blackberry Auto flips into bloom by itself after about three weeks. Shift to a bloom feed and keep humidity around 40 to 50% as buds fatten.

  4. HarvestDay ~63–70 from seed

Harvest when trichomes are mostly cloudy with some amber if you want the heavier, sleepier end of its effect.

Grow tips for Blackberry

  • Give buds airflow. Blackberry Auto packs dense indica colas, so a small fan and moderate leaf thinning help prevent bud rot late in bloom.
  • Expect color with cool nights. Some Blackberry phenotypes take on purple or dark hues when night temperatures drop a few degrees below daytime.
  • Don't top late. If you top at all, do it once by the third node; Blackberry Auto has only about three weeks before it starts flowering.
  • Feed moderately. Autoflowers like Blackberry generally need lighter nutrient doses than big photoperiod plants; watch leaf tips for burn.
  • Control the berry smell. The sweet aroma builds through the last weeks, so indoor growers should run a carbon filter from mid-bloom.

FAQ

Blackberry strain FAQ

Is Blackberry Auto indica or sativa?

Blackberry Auto is indica-dominant. Fast Buds' data lists it at about 75% indica and 25% sativa, with ruderalis added for autoflowering, and its effects are mostly described as relaxing and body-heavy.

What are Blackberry Auto's genetics?

SeedFinder and Leafly list Blackberry Auto as Blackberry Kush crossed with ruderalis. Fast Buds' own data sheet describes Blackberry genetics combined with purple Kush lines from Pakistan and a little Canadian ruderalis.

How long does Blackberry Auto take to grow?

Blackberry Auto takes about 9 to 10 weeks from seed to harvest, roughly 63 to 70 days. It starts flowering on its own after about three weeks and does not need a change to 12/12 light.

How much THC does Blackberry Auto have?

Blackberry Auto is listed at 20% THC on SeedFinder and up to 23% THC by Fast Buds, with CBD at 1% or less. Real potency varies with the plant, light and harvest timing.

How big does Blackberry Auto get?

Blackberry Auto grows to about 70 to 110 cm indoors and outdoors. Its short, bushy indica shape fits most grow tents without heavy training.

What is the yield of Blackberry Auto?

Breeder figures for Blackberry Auto are 500 to 600 g/m² indoors and roughly 70 to 300 g per plant outdoors. Those numbers assume strong light and good care, so expect less from a first grow.

Is Blackberry the same strain as Blackberry Kush?

Not exactly. Blackberry Kush is a photoperiod indica, while Blackberry Auto is an autoflower built from Blackberry Kush-type genetics and ruderalis. Nirvana's photoperiod Blackberry is a different strain again, made from Black Domina and Raspberry Cough.

What does Blackberry Auto taste like?

Blackberry Auto tastes sweet and fruity, like ripe blackberries, with earthy Kush, pine and a mild spice underneath. Myrcene and pinene are the terpenes listed for it.

The earthy, fruity flavor was subtle and not overbearing. Not a cough. It smells and tastes just like blackberries. Easily one of my faves; really smooth and a fantastic body high. Beaver Seeds—keep up the good work! I have to give this specific growth a 10/10. By following the SOG procedure, they all reached a height of 9–13 inches. Sincerely, I’ve tried strains from other internet retailers before, but sadly, for unknown reasons, they don’t grow as quickly or as tallly as the ones I purchased from this shop.
