Where does the Rock Candy strain come from?
Rock Candy traces back to Alien Genetics, which crossed a Sour Dubble female with its Tahoe Alien male and named the result Alien Rock Candy. Sour Dubble is a short, stocky sour cut that Weedmaps says is generally believed to come from East Coast Sour Diesel and Sour Bubble, though its exact background is unconfirmed. Tahoe Alien brings OG Kush structure and fuel through its own parents, Tahoe OG and Alien Kush.
Alien Genetics sold the cross only as regular seeds, which it described as easy to grow and clone and ready in about 56 days. Later seed makers kept the name: THC Development Seed Company made a regular F2 line, while Blimburn Seeds and Dr. Blaze sell feminized versions. Shops and AllBud often drop the word Alien, which is how the plain Rock Candy name spread.
Is Rock Candy the same as Alien Rock Candy?
In most strain databases, yes: Rock Candy is the shortened name of Alien Rock Candy, the Sour Dubble × Tahoe Alien cross. AllBud's Rock Candy page gives the same parents and breeder and lists Alien Rock Candy as the other name. Weedmaps also files ARC and Alien Candy under that one strain, although Leafly keeps a separate Alien Candy page that names Sour Bubble instead of Sour Dubble as a parent.
Other Rock Candy names are different plants. New England Rock Candy, Rootbeer Rock Candy, Gelato Rock Candy and Apple Rock Candy are separate crosses or descendants, and some dispensary flower sold as plain Rock Candy has no published lineage at all.

How do you grow Rock Candy seeds?
Rock Candy seeds suit newer growers: the feminized plants stay short and bushy, take training well, flower in about 8 to 10 weeks under 12/12 and finish outdoors in October.
- Germinate3–7 days
Rock Candy seedlings build a thick main stem early; Blimburn describes one large stem carrying several satellite branches.
- Vegetate4–5 weeks indoors
Keep veg short for a sea-of-green run, or top once and spread the side branches into a flat canopy.
- Flower8–10 weeks
Rock Candy stretches only modestly after the 12/12 switch, then fills in with dense, resin-coated buds.
- HarvestWeek 8–10 indoors · October outdoors
Take plants when most trichomes are cloudy and dry them slowly to protect the citrus candy aroma.
Grow tips for Rock Candy
- Use the short frame. Rock Candy tops out around 1.5 m, so it fits tents with limited headroom and works well in SOG setups with many small plants.
- Open up the center. The bushy, indica-style structure packs leaves around the colas. Clear inner growth so the dense buds get airflow.
- Watch humidity late in bloom. Rock-hard buds hold moisture, so keep late-flower humidity low and avoid wetting the foliage.
- Smell-test your keepers. Weedmaps notes that Rock Candy releases vary, with some plants calmer or sleepier than others, so pick a mother plant by aroma before cloning.
- Outdoors, pick a mild climate. Blimburn rates Rock Candy for temperate and Mediterranean conditions and an October finish, so it needs a dry autumn.
Is Rock Candy the right strain for you?
Great pick if you
- Want an easy, compact indica-leaning plant for a small tent

- Want female plants without sexing seedlings
Think twice if you
- Want a tall, energetic sativa
- Need a very fast harvest (Rock Candy takes 8–10 weeks to flower)
- Are chasing the highest THC numbers on the market
- Grow outdoors where October is wet and cold

This plant exceeded all expectations. Super dense, beautiful vibrant colors, and heavy crystals. Taste and smell so sweet. For me it was a very smooth happy euphoric heady and body buzz. It’s a nice body high but not overwhelming to where I could barely function. Your genetics are insanely good!
Rickey Griffith –
I was in absolute awe with how beautiful these ladies were. Buds were very sticky. The smell is one you will never forget, kinda sweet but pungent. Taste was nice and citrusy. I smoked this as a blunt. The high took a few minutes to kick in. After the initial head rush, the effect mellows into a soothing state of tiredness. I will grow this strain again!
Ira Hubbard –
Pretty much satisfied with the way they’ve developed overall. Small buds are extremely nice! Covered in dark orange hairs and layers upon layers of trichomes. Definitely strong and heavy euphoria followed by body relaxation. Excellent strain for pain and depression too! May even run this one again, I love it!

Proud to say that I chose this strain and grow it. This company serves the best. Quality seeds and quality genetics. The plant made it that far. I started 5 seeds and all sprouted. All are in good condition and good height. I believed that It was successful because we will be harvesting the buds next week. More power!
