AK-47 Strain Autoflower SeedsAK-47 bred with ruderalis, ready about 8–12 weeks from seed
5.00 out of 5 · 2 reviewsThe AK-47 strain in autoflower form takes the 1992 Serious Seeds hybrid and crosses it with ruderalis, so each plant starts flowering by itself instead of waiting for shorter days. Seed sellers give a seed-to-harvest time of roughly 8 to 12 weeks, plants of about 60–100 cm and THC up to around 18%. Feminized AK-47 autos fit a closet or balcony grow, and outdoors two crops can often share one summer.

What is AK-47 Autoflower?
AK-47 Autoflower is the self-flowering, feminized take on Serious Seeds' sativa-leaning AK-47, made by crossing it with Cannabis ruderalis, which in many lines means the autoflower Lowryder. Serious Seeds' own Auto AK-47 runs 70–80 days from seed and grows 75–100 cm tall, while other seed companies list 8 to 12 weeks and THC up to about 18%, a few points below the photoperiod original. It keeps AK-47's sweet, lemony and slightly spicy smell.
Ratio from MSNL's AK47 × Lowryder listing; Serious Seeds calls its auto mostly sativa without a figure. The ruderalis share is not counted.
Most autoflowers lean indica; AK-47 Auto is listed as mostly sativa, and Bulk Seeds' listing calls that combination very rare.
AK-47 strain specs

Where does the AK-47 strain come from?
AK-47 Autoflower begins with AK-47, the Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghan hybrid that Simon of Serious Seeds bred in 1992, crossed with Cannabis ruderalis so that it flowers by age. Several seed companies, including MSNL, Bulk Seeds and Lowlife Seeds, name the ruderalis side as Lowryder, the well-known Joint Doctor autoflower. Serious Seeds' own Auto AK-47 is listed on SeedFinder with an unspecified ruderalis parent.
Because every company selects its own line, AK-47 Autos differ more than the shared name suggests: Serious Seeds lists 70–80 days and 75–100 cm, MSNL 8–10 weeks and 60–100 cm, and ILGM 10–12 weeks. Potency usually lands below the photoperiod original, which an independent lab measured at 21.5% THC at the 1999 Cannabis Cup, while auto listings stop at about 18%. In return you get no veg to manage, no light change and plants that rarely pass a meter.
What changes between AK-47 Auto and photoperiod AK-47?
AK-47 Auto is smaller, faster from seed and a little milder, while photoperiod AK-47 lets you control size and timing. Photoperiod AK-47 grows for as long as you keep it in veg, then blooms for 8 to 9 weeks once it gets 12 hours of darkness, finishing outdoors in mid to late October. The auto runs its whole life in roughly 8 to 12 weeks under any light schedule, so an outdoor sowing in late spring can be harvested in summer and followed by a second round.
Outdoor timing is flexible. AK-47 Auto ignores day length, so it can finish well before the autumn rain that sometimes threatens the photoperiod version's late-October harvest.
What does AK-47 Autoflower smell and taste like, and how does it feel?
Aroma and flavor
AK-47 Auto smells sweet, fruity and lemony with a light spicy edge, the profile Serious Seeds gives for its own auto, and other listings add earthy skunk, herbal spice and a sour orange-peel note.
- Sweet lemon
- Fruity
- Herbal spice
- Earthy skunk
- Orange peel
- Pine
Terpenes
- Myrcene
- Earthy, musky base named in several AK-47 Auto listings
- Caryophyllene
- Peppery warmth
- Pinene
- Pine and fresh herbs
No lab terpene data is published for AK-47 Auto; MSNL and ILGM both name these three, which matches Leafly's ranking for the photoperiod parent.
Reported effects
AK-47 Auto is described as an upbeat, euphoric high that turns relaxed in the body later on. MSNL calls its version energizing, ILGM lists euphoric and relaxed, and Serious Seeds describes its auto as strong in effect. Most growers should expect a slightly lighter punch than the best photoperiod AK-47.
- Uplifting
- Euphoric
- Energizing
- Relaxed
- Happy
AK-47 Auto's listed downsides are cottonmouth and dry eyes, and ILGM adds tiredness and, in larger amounts, paranoia.
These effects come from Serious Seeds, MSNL and ILGM descriptions plus user reports on photoperiod AK-47 from Leafly and Weedmaps. Everyone reacts differently, and nothing here is medical advice.
How do you grow AK-47 Autoflower seeds?
AK-47 Autoflower seeds are easy to grow: sow them in their final container, give 18 to 20 hours of light a day for the whole cycle, train gently in the first weeks and harvest about 8 to 12 weeks after sprouting. The plant decides when to bloom, so your job is to avoid setbacks in the first month, when an auto builds most of its size.
- Germinate3–5 days
Plant AK-47 Auto seeds straight into the pot they will finish in; about 10–15 L (3–4 gal) suits most indoor setups.
- Early growthWeeks 1–4
Run 18/6 or 20/4 light with mild feeding. Bend the main stem gently from week 2 or 3 if you want a flatter canopy.
- FlowerWeeks 4–10
Buds appear on their own. The lemony, spicy smell builds quickly, so set up odor control before it peaks.
- HarvestWeeks 8–12 from seed
Serious Seeds puts its auto at 70–80 days. Go by trichome color rather than the calendar, since lines and plants differ.
Grow tips for AK-47 Autoflower
- Skip transplanting. Every move to a new pot costs an auto growing days it can't win back, so give AK-47 Auto its final container from the start.
- Expect a sativa shape. AK-47 Auto leans sativa, so plants can grow a little taller and airier than indica autos; one balcony grower on Serious Seeds' page reported about 70 cm in 12 L pots.
- Stake the side branches. An outdoor grower reviewing Serious Seeds' auto had to support side shoots under the weight of the buds, so a few canes help in the last weeks.
- Train softly, if at all. Use gentle low-stress training rather than late topping; AK-47 Auto has a short window and little time to recover from hard pruning.
- Plan two outdoor runs. With a 70–80 day cycle, AK-47 Auto can be sown after the last frost and again in early summer in warm regions.
- Keep the days long. AK-47 Auto needs no 12/12 period; cutting the light to 12 hours only reduces the energy the plant has to build buds.

- Like long veg periods that build large plants
- Have no way to control a strong smell
AK-47 strain FAQ
How long does AK-47 Autoflower take from seed to harvest?
AK-47 Autoflower takes about 8 to 12 weeks from seed to harvest. Serious Seeds lists 70–80 days for its own Auto AK-47, MSNL gives 8–10 weeks and ILGM 10–12 weeks. Growers on Serious Seeds' review page report harvests between 65 and 80 days.
What is AK-47 Autoflower crossed with?
AK-47 Autoflower is AK-47 crossed with Cannabis ruderalis. Many versions, including those from MSNL, Bulk Seeds and Lowlife Seeds, use Lowryder as the autoflowering parent, while Serious Seeds lists an unnamed ruderalis line for its own Auto AK-47.
Is AK-47 Auto weaker than photoperiod AK-47?
Usually a little milder. Auto listings put AK-47 Auto at up to about 18% THC, while photoperiod AK-47 is reported at roughly 15–22%, and a 1999 Cannabis Cup lab test measured 21.5%. Light, feeding and harvest timing shift the result either way.
How tall does AK-47 Autoflower get?
Most AK-47 Autoflowers grow about 60–100 cm (2–3.3 ft). Serious Seeds lists 75–100 cm for its version, and one balcony grower reported plants of about 70 cm in 12-liter pots.
How much does AK-47 Auto yield?
Serious Seeds lists 40–75 g per plant indoors for its Auto AK-47, and MSNL gives 200–300 g/m². ILGM claims more, around 510 g/m². Light intensity, pot size and a stress-free first month decide where a plant lands.
Does AK-47 Autoflower need 12/12 light?
No. AK-47 Autoflower blooms by age, so it can stay on 18/6 or 20/4 from seed to harvest. Giving it only 12 hours of light does not make it finish sooner; it just reduces the light the plant uses to build buds.
Is AK-47 Auto indica or sativa?
AK-47 Auto leans sativa. MSNL lists its AK47 × Lowryder at about 70% sativa and 30% indica, Serious Seeds calls its auto mostly sativa, and users describe an uplifting, energetic high.
Is AK-47 Autoflower good for beginners?
Yes. MSNL and ILGM both rate AK-47 Auto as easy, and it needs no light change or long veg. The usual beginner mistakes to avoid are transplanting, overfeeding and heavy pruning after the first few weeks.

I suffer from migraines and have been searching for the right strain of marijuana to help me cope. AK-47 Autoflower is that strain! It’s sweet and piney but very potent. It’s soothing but also euphoric and made me more focused on my work. It was not hard to grow and yielded me very much!
Moore Auberjonois –
First time I grew AK-47 auto and it requires very some effort. Nice and simple to grow even without much experience. These seeds are high quality than with the other seed banks.
